COURSES

TAILWHEEL ENDORSEMENT

The tailwheel endorsement course is designed to take a pilot from zero tailwheel experience to their tailwheel endorsement. We cover the required topics of 14 CFR § 61.31 plus much more. We will be on various grass and paved runways and are sure to have some fun on some short and cool landing spots in the area. You will leave the course proficient in tailwheel operations. Our instructors handle all radio work, navigation, and any other tasks not related to tailwheel flying so you can focus on mastering the new techniques. The only prerequisite is a Private Pilot License. This is a very structured course and a lot of info is packed into a short time. Come prepared and ready to learn and you won't be disappointed.

ADVANCED TAILWHEEL

In this course we work on skills applicable to areas outside of the normal airport environment. We will work on rough field landings, narrow landing strips, precise spot landings, intro to STOL competition and how competition is different than real life flying, short takeoffs/landings, obstacle clearance, non-standard approaches/departures, slow flight, stall recovery, slips, equipment considerations, and more. You will leave this course with confidence in your abilities to fly tailwheel aircraft. Pilots will need to complete a skills assessment before taking this course.

CONFIDENCE COURSE

Our two day confidence course is designed for pilots who already have their tailwheel endorsement and some hours logged but maybe haven't flown in a while or had an incident that suggests more training is required. This course is tailored to the individual needs and starts out with a discussion of goals, an assessment flight, and then a plan of action to meet those goals. This course is also great for the student pilot working on a PPL that wants to get an introduction to tailwheel flying. Build a good stick and rudder foundation before developing bad habits!

Pricing is variable on this depending on hours needed and everything else. We will work with you to develop a plan. If our in house instructors don't have the time required in your specific make and model, we have a large network of friends in the area and can find someone for almost any type airplane.
